Case study - Raymond Kelly

Siemens Stroke for Stroke

Raymond Kelly

Case study

Raymond Kelly had a stroke in 2007 when he was just 38 years old. Although his mobility was unaffected, Raymond developed aphasia - a devastating communication disability which severely affected his ability to speak, read, write and communicate. Because he found interacting very difficult, he was unable to carry on working and lost his self confidence.

The stroke changed Raymond's life completely but with support from The Stroke Association Northern Ireland he has made huge steps in rebuilding his life.

"Since I joined Cookstown Conversation Group I have a new family for stroke, made of old and young faces. I feel that The Stroke Association Northern Ireland is like a new trip for me, it is my way ahead" Raymond Kelly, stroke survivor.
