Case study - Christine Nash

Christine Nash

Case study

When Christine Nash had a stroke four years ago at the age of 39, her husband and parents were told she was going to die. When she didn't die, they were warned that the brain damage could leaver her in a vegetative state. Then when Christine started talking, they were told she would recover but would never walk again.

Christine has fought a huge personal battle to get better and with the help of physiotherapy she can now walk well using a walking stick. She is a regular at The Stroke Association's local long-term stroke support group sessions, where she is currently doing a yoga course. Last summer she was even able to go with a Stroke association group to the Lions Disabled Games in Swindon, where she won several gold medals.

"Words cannot express the support I have been given by attending The Stroke Association's Long-Term stroke support group. I have made many friends there and Madeleine has many 'aunties and uncles'". Christine Nash, stroke survivor
